Rosa Amparo Colindres

Rosa A. Colindres, 92, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born May 26, 1931 in Guatemala City, she was the daughter of the late Juan Colindres and Lucila Pivaral.

She immigrated to the United States in the 1970s and followed her dreams by becoming a registered nurse. During her upbringing, she dedicated her life to helping others, and while being a single mother of eight children, she never allowed herself to become petty. She always looked out for others with more necessities than her own to help out.

Rosa is survived by her children, Cesar Galvez, Julio Edgar Arriaga Colindres (Miriam), Hugo Manolo Gonzalez, Julia Mayen-McDonnell (Charles) Mirza Mavi Mayen (Frank) and Otto Oswaldo Mayen (Lourdes); grandchildren, Steve Arriaga, Jimmy Arriaga, Christian Mayen, Frank Mayen, Kelly Mayen, Cindy Mayen, Jonathan Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Edgar Garcia, Karina Arriaga Lopez, Yulissa Arriaga Lopez, Rensembrinck Arriaga, Barbara Arriaga Hernandez, Romulo Arriaga Hernandez, Julio Edgar Arriaga Hernandez, Andrea Gonzalez and Rivelino Gonzalez; great- grandchildren; Ariana, Elliam, Elvira and Eva.

In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her brother, Francisco “Tio Paco” Pivaral; two children, Rolando Galvez (Elsa) and Juan Luis Arriaga Colindres.

A visitation for Rosa will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 12:30 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Entombment in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
