
Ruby Winchester died on July 3, 2015 at Wilora Lake Assisted Living Center. A native of Monroe, she was the youngest child of Jesse and Lorena Aldridge. A graduate of Unionville High School, she was a homemaker. Her favorite pasttime was listening to the oldies and enjoying the tranquility, beauty and reverence of nature. Her loving personality endeared young and old. She was strong in character and will.
In addition to her parents, Jesse Brady and Lorena Boswell Aldridge, she was preceded in death by sister, Jeanette and husband Loni Parker; by a brother, Garvin and wife Ruby Aldridge; by a sister, Lela and husband Zimmer Rotan (later Caviness); by a brother, Brooks and wife Doris Aldridge; by a sister O’Dell Hall and husband Tom; by a sister, Gertrude York and husband Frank; by a brother, James Van Aldridge and wife Sarah; Buck Aldridge and his wives Kate and Penny Aldridge.
Survivors include her sons, Greg Winchester and wife Jan of Milton, Georgia and Dwayne Winchester of Charlotte. She is also survived by six (6) grandchildren, Mary-Elsye of Edwards, Colorado, and Dustin, Caleb, Sarah-Anne, Asa, and Rebecca-Joy of Milton.
She was a longtime member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Monday, July 6, 2015. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park. The Rev. Drs. Sam Moore and Fred Jordan will officiate. Interment will follow the service on Monday at Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church; 6401 Hickory Grove Rd, Charlotte, NC 28215 or to the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
