Russell Dwayne Matthews

Russell Dwayne Matthews, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of the late William Joseph Matthews and Evelyn Grace Allen Matthews. He was the ower of Matthews Moving Systems, Inc. and Russell’s Pub and Grill. He lived life to the fullest and accomplished many great things in his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Matthews, Rhyne Matthews, and Reginald Matthews. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ramona Earls.

Russell is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen Matthews; by his daughter, Michelle Matthews, by his son, Dwayne Matthews; by a grandson, Tyler Cook and by a granddaughter, Jordan Cook. He is also survived by his brothers, Randall Matthews, Ronald Matthews, Richard Matthews, Robert Matthews, and Rodrick Matthews; by his sisters Reanea Eppley and Rhonda Green; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 PM with Chris Baucom officiating. Burial will be private.
