She was born on October 28th, 1929 in Mecklenburg County to the late Ollin DeBerry and Pansy Whitaker Godwin.
Those left to remember Ruth include her daughter-in-law, Shelia Godwin; her granddaughters, Angela Cox and Teresa Godwin; her step-grandson, Lee Melton; her great-grandchildren, Tiffanie Jordan and Jeremiah Thompson; and her great-great-grandchildren, Savannah Jordan, and Khloe Jordan.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Ollin and Pansy; her children, Terrie Godwin and Roger Godwin; her step-children, Vicky Melton, Carol Baucom, and Dorothy Baucom; her great-grandson, Joshua Thompson; and her siblings, Magdalene Moffatt, Colleen Clontz, James Godwin, Paul Godwin, David Godwin, John Godwin, Thomas Godwin, William Godwin, Daniel Godwin, and Larry Godwin.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with Ruth’s family at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive in Charlotte. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM following the visitation. Ruth will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
