Ryan Layne Fuhrman

Ryan was born on May 1, 1979, in Chicago, IL and graduated from Saint Stephens High School in Hickory, NC in 1997. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Biology degree in 2002.

For over 20 years Ryan worked as a personal trainer for his many beloved clients from Quail Hollow Country Club, Metro Fitness Club and selected others in the Charlotte professional sports arena. He held many health and fitness certifications, including as a Titleist Professional Institute of Golf Trainer and as a NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association) Personal Trainer. Ryan was an avid fitness enthusiast, participating in many Spartan Races, including Spartan Asheville in 2019, placing in the top 2%. Ryan also hiked and climbed many trails and mountains, including Yosemite National Park, where he said he felt closest to Heaven in the mountains. Ryan had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge which made him an ardent reader, he was also an animal lover and advocate. His kind and patient personality, quick wit and dry sense of humor will be missed by so many.

Ryan is survived by his loving parents, Ron and Rhonda Fuhrman of Denver, NC; his two sisters, Ronni Fuhrman Bishop (William Bishop) of Charlotte, NC and Randi Fuhrman of Bethesda, Maryland; niece and nephew, Reed and Smith Bishop; uncle, Vincent Forbes of Holt, MI; and other extended family members. Ryan was preceded in death by grandparents, Leslie and Patricia Forbes of Holt, MI and Rex and Uldene Fuhrman of Alma, MI.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel at 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 6, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Charlotte Humane Society, Catering to Cats & Dogs, Inc., or other animal rescues of your choice.
