

Shirley Scott, 87, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 after a long illness with family by her side. Shirley was born July 21, 1936 in Warrenton, North Carolina, to the late parents’ Brodie Gupton and Rena Edwards.
She was a lifelong resident of Charlotte, North Carolina. She married Frederick Scott and they made their home here in Charlotte. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with family. In addition to raising their children, she maintained her career as a hair Stylist and Florist. A light hearted woman, she had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. she was an avid animal lover, enjoyed floral design, crocheting, gardening and enjoyed playing pool.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by: son, Greg Scott and his wife Brooke of Fort Mill, South Carolina, daughters: Deborah Russell and her husband Gary of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sheilah Whitmore of Charlotte, North Carolina, Beverly Britnell and her husband Darrell of Dallas, North Carolina. Brothers: Edwin Gupton of Valdosta, Georgia and Frank Gupton and his wife Brenda of Valdosta, Georgia. Sister: Brenda Hinsley of Charlotte, North Carolina. Grandchildren: Chad Caldwell and Shanda of Dallas, North Carolina and Brandon Russell and his wife Hanna of Charlotte, North Carolina. Step Grandchildren, Ethan, Max and Van Piercy of Fort Mill, South Carolina.
She had many nieces, nephews, special friends and pets that she loved dearly in her lifetime and a special friend and companion, Don Grayson.

Was also predeceased by: Fred Scott, brother: Alfred Gupton and sister, Christine Ayscue and Granddaughter: Stephanie Tolar.
Shirley's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Atrium Pineville staff for their wonderful care during her stay at the hospital. We would also like to acknowledge our sister, Sheilah for the wonderful and loving care that she provided for many years.
Per her wishes, there will be no service but her family will hold a celebration of her life in the near future. We would also like to thank McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel for handling her cremation.
