

Stanley (Dick) Hunter Livengood, Sr., 90, of Charlotte went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born in Winston Salem on January 6, 1921 to Elsie Hunter Davenport Livengood and Clarence Jerome Livengood. Stan attended school in Winston Salem and after serving in the Navy in the Pacific relocated to Charlotte in 1946 where he met his wife, Jean Rumple Livengood. He owned Battery Service Co. in Charlotte from 1948 until 1963 when he joined Vacor Battery Manufacturing Co., a family owned business in Thomasville, NC.
Stan loved his family, crossword puzzles and passionately studied about vitamins and minerals; some neighbors even called him Dr. Livengood. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, had a passion for music and loved to sing. Stan was a member of the Charlotte Barbershop Chorus and “Rebels” Quartet for many years.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Livengood; son Stan Hunter Livengood, Jr., of Charlotte; daughters Sandra L. Williams and husband Wayne of Lake Norman and Jeanne L. Sellers and husband Ron of Charlotte. He is also survived by his grandchildren James Garrett Newman (currently serving in the US Navy), Christina Jean Luke of Charlotte, Todd Michael Peebles of Winston Salem and Patrick Hunter Peebles of Indian Trail; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Archer D. Livengood and wife Ann of Mocksville, NC, David L. Livengood and wife Marjorie of Thomasville, NC and Jerry W. Livengood and wife Carolyn of High Point, NC; sister-in-law Carmel Livengood of Winston Salem and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Baker, Elsie Morris, Patsy Livengood and Alice Byron Roberts and brother Clarence J. Livengood.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hester, Greg Livengood, Brad Livengood, Lane Livengood and Ben Livengood.
The family would like to thank the staff at Presbyterian Hospital, ICU, D4 and C6 for their care in Stan’s final months.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at 12:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
