Born November 24, 1934, in Chicago, IL. Died January 11, 2023, in Charlotte, NC. Sue was a beautiful girl - pretty enough to be asked to be a model. But her heart was with books. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956 and married Karl Faitz on July 14 of that year. She taught high school for a year but then she decided to work for Illinois Bell, which she did until she retired. Sue had a very successful career at the telephone company, where they created a job for her writing training materials. She had found her niche. Sue was a wonderful writer and she loved her work. She and Karl divorced and she married Skip Stevens. They later divorced, and she moved to downtown Chicago, where she had always wanted to live. Sue found a full and satisfying life there with her dear friend Budd Bruce and other friends who loved opera, theater, and traveling. After she retired, Sue worked for several years as a consultant for AT&T. After which she moved to Charlotte to be closer to her sisters Carol Koerfer and Lee Howard, and there she found a good life. Sue was beloved by her friends and family for her steadfast loyalty, intelligence, and quick wit. She was a rock to her sisters as well as to her friends. Sue will be dearly missed by all.
