She was a graduate of Central High School and was employed by Borg Warner Financial Services and the United States Postal Service.
She is survived by her partner Kay Perkins of Mooresville and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great- great nieces and nephews who hold cherished memories of fun times, laughter, and love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Edgar H. Jr., Harold, and Frank Aughtry as well as sisters Nancy Kinley, Bernice Wheeler, and Joyce Williams.
Jean loved her family, the beach and the many friends she met there, birds, flowers, and watching tennis.
Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2020, she prepared for a fight headed by the Novant Health Cancer Institute staff in Mooresville and a multitude of dedicated and caring healthcare professionals.
An intimate graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte with Dr. Jonathan E. Edwards, Sr. Novant Hospice Chaplain officiating.
Jean's signature trademark was the smiley face so let's smile and...
HOLD ON TO THE LOVE
...NOT THE LOSS...
