Miss Tara Maureen Brock was born on November 9, 1984. She passed to her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2011. Tara was born near Atlanta Georgia. Although she had lived in North Carolina for over 15 years, she always called Georgia “home”. Her visits “home" were always greatly anticipated and carried special memories.
For anyone who knew Tara, or ever knew the joy of meeting her, there are no words that can express the love she showered on all those around her. To those who knew Tara, there are no words needed to remember her love. To those who did not know that joy, there are no words that can help them appreciate her special being. She never met a stranger. There was never a place she went that she could not turn a room full of strangers into a group of new friends. For many, their first memory of Tara is a smiling stranger saying “Hi, my name’s Tara , do you have any animals?”.
Tara was a proud 2006 graduate of East Meck High School. Since her youth, Tara has been an active Special Olympics athlete. In December she participated in the NC State Bowling games and proudly carried home a bronze medal.
Of all the things in her life, the most special were her family. Tara is survived by her mother and stepfather, Sherri Brock and Leon Schaffer; her father and stepmother, Jeff and Janet Brock; brothers, Trey and Troy Brock; sisters, Taylor Brock and Madison Schaffer and grandparents; Maureen and Dan Sanders and Jackie and Terry Brock; and many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tara’s memory to Special Olympics of Mecklenburg County, 4421 Stuart Andrew Blvd., Ste 605, Charlotte, NC 28217
