She was gifted to her parents on March 15, 1997, in Mecklenburg County. She is the daughter of Therese McMahon and James Anthony Denton. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Kathleen Bernadette on October 11, 2011, her great aunt, Lavinia Thomason Sauter and wonderful grandfather, Jack Denton whom she did not get to meet in this life.
Claire received her Certified Nursing Assistant training from Randolph Community College while living with her mother, cousin Glenda McMahon Hensley and her great aunt Reba Buchanan McMahon. (whom she adored)
Claire had been employed as a private home health nurse. A job she truly loved. Her compassion for children and the elderly was unsurpassable.
Before completing her CNA certification, she was employed as a day care teacher for toddlers at Newell Baptist Day Care in Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her beloved brother, James M. Denton. She had a step mother, Kathy Denton, a half-sister, Amber Denton; maternal grandmother, Virginia McMahon; paternal grandmother, Linda Kay Jarvis Denton; step-brothers, Brett and Dylan Carnahan; both Kate and Claire had two uncles that they were especially fond of; Thomas McMahon and Michael McMahon. One helped raise Claire, Kate and James when they were young. One always gave them a healthy dose of laughter.
Claire has two aunts. Kelly Palmeri from Kansas whom she got a visit from the year previous to her accident this August.
She has a special aunt, Nancy McMaster from Australia who gave her love, encouragement, comfort and words of wisdom to during her recovery and long stay in the hospital. Sadly again, and only after four months after her discharge from her long hospital stay She continues her support and comfort.
Claire comes from a huge Scottish and Irish clan of seven uncles from the McMahon side. An uncle, Phillip Denton from her fathers’ side. Two very beautiful great Aunts, Fay Denton Belchor and Nadine Denton Whitney. She is blessed with an abundance of cousins from all over the States.
Claire always had fond memories of her life and friends growing up in Albemarle and recently got an opportunity to visit one of them.
I want to be certain as I know Claire would, to let everyone know who’s offered a prayer or condolence to either of Claire’s families is most heartily appreciated.
