

Vance Boyd Lippard, Sr., 93, of Charlotte, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was the husband of the late Henrietta Suits Lippard and the son of the late Alfred Vance and Bessie Navey Lippard.
He was retired from Union Carbide where he worked for more than fifty years as a draftsman and machinery designer. In his early years he was awarded an athletic scholarship in both baseball and basketball at Belmont Abbey College after graduating from Paw Creek High School. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served many capacities.
The family will receive friends Saturday October 16, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at Calvary Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 12 noon with Reverends Brian Taule and Tony Harper officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Vance B. Lippard, Jr. and wife Janis, John Lippard and wife Jane, Angus Lippard, all of Greenville, SC and Anita L. Perkins of Charlotte; brother, William D. “Bill” Lippard of Stoney Point, NC; grandchildren, Angie Dumit and husband Johnny of Simpsonville, SC; Brandon Harris of Charlotte, Amy Forrester of Greer, SC and Tipton Hudson of Columbia, SC; great grandchildren, Andrew Forrester and Jordan, Lexie and Jayk Dumit and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by ten siblings.
