

VICTORIA R. JOHNSON KEARSE FEWELL, 60, of Charlotte, went to be with our Lord on March 5, 2015. Vickie was a native of Bristol, VA, where she graduated Bristol VA High School with Honors in 1972. She served in the U.S. Army from September, 1975 to December, 1979, and was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Specialist E4. Vickie then earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science, Drafting and Design Technology in 1982 from Central Carolina Technical College, Sanford, NC, and a Mechanical Drafting Diploma in 1982 from Fayetteville Technical Institute, Fayetteville, NC. She also completed courses in AutoDesk Inventer Pro 2012 and AutoDesk Auto CAD 2012 Advanced, in 2013 at Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte. Vickie worked in and around the Charlotte area for various engineering and power companies as a CAD Operator from 1982 until her passing.
Vickie Fewell was a tireless advocate for East Charlotte. She was current President of Shannon Park Neighborhood Association, President of Charlotte East Community partners, and past President of PlazaEastway Partners/Northeast Community Organization.
Over the past few years, even though her personal life was experiencing setbacks, she continued to support the causes and needs of her neighbors and the eastside. She was tireless in working with agencies and CharlotteMecklenburg government and task forces for the improvement of our area, and always available to participate and support numerous community events and functions.
Vickie was active with her Bible Study group at Christian Fellowship of Huntersville, and was a faithful and devoted member, always willing to help and guide others.
Mrs. Fewell was preceded in death by her father, Fred W. Johnson of Bristol, VA.
She is survived by her mother, Mildred F. Johnson of Bristol, VA, her son, Edward L. Kearse, a grandson, Sheldon E. Kearse both of Charlotte, NC, a brother, Phillip W. Johnson and wife, Deborah of Summit Point, WV, two sisters, Jennifer J. Myers and husband Kyle of Blountville, TN, and M. Gayle Johnson of Bristol, VA, a niece, Megan J. Osinski of Ashburn, VA, a paternal aunt, Dorothy J. Yates and husband Pete of Bristol, TN, a maternal uncle, Paul M. Fleenor and wife Ann of Jackson, TN, a maternal aunt, Becky F. Gose and husband Scott of Blountville, TN, and several cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mcewen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. A graveside service with military honors will follow in Sharon Memorial Park, David and Cheryl Ginn, Pastors of Christian, and Diane Garris. Fellowship of Huntersville officiating.
