Virginia Hudson Pace went to be with her Lord on April 27, 2021, at the age of 87, with her adoring family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ginny was born on April 20, 1934 to Kathleen and Lewis Hudson of Commerce, Georgia, later moving to North Carolina at the age of 4. Ginny never left Charlotte after meeting her love, Robert (Bob) L. Pace, Sr., while working at Martin’s Department Store in uptown Charlotte. They married on February 17, 1951. After 4 years of marriage her dreams came true when she was blessed with a baby boy. Another 4 years and her family was complete with a daughter.
Ginny was employed at various companies throughout her work career: Transport Clearings, Cardinal and Associates, Keith Chiropractic, and then with husband, Bob, helping to take care of his golf business. Her most enjoyable role came next as Grandma to Evan, Grant, and Victoria. She loved her children, but she adored her 3 grandchildren. She always found a way to be available to spend time, care for, and spoil her grands whenever she could. It became hard to discern who adored who more, Grandma or the kids? Nothing brightened her day as much as seeing or talking to her 3 beloved grands.
She was a beautiful, kind, funny, sweet, extraordinarily generous person who loved unconditionally and was loved by many. Until the end of her journey she was still amused by her favorite things: children/babies, animals, and gardening. She could never get enough of a sweet child or baby. Her face would glow with delight every time she saw a child. Looking out of her window into her beautifully manicured garden to catch a glimpse of a cat, dog, bunny, or the many well-fed birds or any animal that might be passing by brought her hours of joy. She knew all types of plants and flowers and where exactly they would flourish in the yard. Her lovely garden could have been photographed for a magazine.
Most are unaware of how talented she really was. Hours were spent enjoying her love of crafting, painting, stitching, ceramics, sewing, drawing, and floral arranging. These were just a few of her many gifts.
Ginny will be missed by many, but her love will live on in those of us she shared her love with. The family would like to thank Wilson Grove Senior Living and Wilson Grove Assisted Living and the staff (Felicia, LaShawnda, Angela, Jane, Charryse, Martin, KC, and others) for the incredible loving care she received while there and also Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte (Cheryl, Faheema, Bob, Dave, Dana, Pete and Stephanie) as well.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen and Lewis Hudson, and survived by her husband of 70 years, Bob Pace, son Robert (Robin) Pace, Jr. of Cary, NC, granddaughter Victoria Pace of Hillsborough, NC, daughter Darleen Pace Weinzierl (Dave) of Mint Hill, NC, grandsons Evan Weinzierl (Jessica) of Wesley Chapel, NC and Grant Weinzierl of Charlotte, NC, and sister Frances Harris of Charlotte, NC.
Visitation will be at 1 pm followed by the service on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at McEwen Funeral Service and Sharon Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to and are appreciated:
