Wanda Jewel Brown St. Pierre, of Charlotte, joined her husband, Richard, and son, Jeffrey, in heaven in the early morning hours of October 9, 2011. She was surrounded by her family in her final hours after a battle with cancer. Wanda was born in Irvington, NJ, in 1929 and grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. She and Richard were married in 1953 and moved to Charlotte in 1955. In addition to raising six children, she was a meticulous bookkeeper for Acme Southern, Vibra-Chem Company and Sir Speedy during the 1970s and 1980s. She was active in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 392, and many charities. Wanda loved listening to music and dancing. She also loved golfing and was credited with two holes in one in her lifetime. Her family was always her top priority, and she taught them the value of honesty and hard work.
She is survived by her children: Robert St. Pierre and his wife, Rebecca, of Charlotte, NC; Leslie Smith and her husband, Benjamin, of Fort Mill, SC; Tracey St. Pierre and her partner, Julia Anthony, of Arlington, VA; William St. Pierre and his wife, Shannon, of Mebane, NC; James St. Pierre of Charlotte, NC; Daughter in Law, Linda B. St. Pierre; 12 grandchildren: Suzanne; Jason; Austin; Lauren; Van; Matthew; Wesley; Zach; Amy; Abby; Ellee; and Jack; and her great grand-daughter, Savannah.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Hospice care team. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the cancer charity of your choice, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church or Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
