William Asimakis Asimos

He attended schools in Nafpaktos, Greece and emigrated to the United States in 1950. He was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in York, Pennsylvania prior to relocating to Pineville, where he was a faithful member of the St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was a member of the White Rose Chapter of AHEPA, the Masons, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the York County Shrine Club. He was owner-partner of the Ramona Restaurant and the Colonial Coffee Shop in York, along with Donut World in Red Lion and Columbia, Pennsylvania. In 1967-68, he was president of the Southern Chapter of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association. He was a member of the East York Lions Club and the Country Club of York, where he loved playing golf. His family, friends and customers will always remember him for his good humor.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita, of 58 years, and two sons, Michael Asimos (and wife Victoria) of Haverford, Pennsylvania and Andrew Asimos (and wife Christie) of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Bess Anne Asimos, Mary Katherine Asimos, and Luke Andrew Asimos of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Annabella Paige Asimos of Haverford, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters in Greece, Stavroula Fotopoulos and Demetra Bokaris, and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Arthur Asimos.

A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 5108 Kuykendall Road, Charlotte, NC 28270. The family will receive friends beginning at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 2500 Pine Grove Road, York, PA 17403, with the Rev. Father Andrew N. Tsikitas, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York.
