During his 87 years, he was a city planner for the City of Toledo, OH. He served in the Navy Reserves in the 1950's. Bill met and married his Sweetheart Doris and was a devoted husband for 44 years. During which time they had one child, Scott.
He enjoyed watching sports on television, from his favorite chair, to which Doris would always have 'something' to say!
He loved playing horseshoes, fishing, and when he was younger he could often be found playing football with young Scottie on the brick paved streets in front of their house.
Bill's son Scott married Lori in 1994 and in 1996 Bill got a new nickname - 'Papa' when his first grandson Alex was born. In 1998 & 2000 two more grands, Mali and Nicholas, were added to his lineage.
Bill and Doris loved serving in their church as Elders.
In 2004, after a battle with cancer, Doris went to Heaven and Papa was never the same. Although a smile could always be found on his face, the sparkle left his eyes and everything changed...as he always longed to be reunited with his bride.
He was a member of Central Church of God in Charlotte, NC.
Saturday, August 25th 2018 would find Papa's grandchildren in colleges across the country, Scott and Lori doing yard work, as he unexpectedly breathed his last breath in his favorite chair in front of the television, in Charlotte, NC.
We will always love Bill "Papa" and look forward to the day when we'll see him again in Heaven. We love you Papa!
