William Richard Graham, age 83, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 in Gastonia, NC. Formerly of Westminster, MD, William was born October 1, 1940 in Jonesville, VA, the son of Charles A. and Ora A. (Loftice) Graham. He was the husband of Diana Fair Graham.
William was a graduate of New Windsor High School in 1958 and was a very competitive basketball player.
He served the North Carolina Army National Guard and retired as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) with 33 years of service.
He was a member of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church where he enjoyed serving with the Lutheran Men In Mission, playing softball and basketball.
He really enjoyed the comradery with his friends growing up in school, at work, at church, and in the community. He always had a smile and a laugh for you and would give you the shirt off of his back.
Most of all, William loved spending time with his family, rooting on his favorite team with his 3 sons and really enjoyed a coffee with 2 creams and a doughnut from Krispy Kreme.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Fair Graham; sons, Dwayne (Amanda), Danny (Lorrie) and Jason Graham; grandchildren, Bryson and Kathryn Graham; brothers, Ronald, Bobby (Bonnie) and Freddie (Rachel) Graham; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation for William will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, 8200 McClure Circle, Charlotte, NC 28216, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church
