William Richard Leech

Mr. Leech, age 88, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, August 5, 2013 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. Born September 29, 1924 in Kittanning, PA, he was a son of the late William MacDonald Leech and Virginia Earley Leech. He graduated from Kittanning High School, earned a BS from Edinboro University of PA and a MA from Penn State University. Mr. Leech served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He retired in 1983 after serving 30 years as principal in Millcreek Township, PA. He was a former member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mr. Leech moved to Charlotte in 1994. He enjoyed cabinet woodworking and was an avid gardener.

The family will receive friends 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Thursday at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service. Graveside service will be private.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Maryalice Armagost Leech; son, Jack Leech of Monroe, NC; daughter, Jill Leech Sloop and husband, John, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Bonnie Leech Starr and husband, Richard of Kittanning; sister-in-law, Amanda Leech of Kittanning; two grandchildren, Patricia J. Leech of Monroe and John R. Leech, Jr. of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Leech was preceded in death by a brother, John P. Leech.
