He graduated from Newark High School, served in the US Navy during World War II. He received a ChE degree from the University of Delaware and joined the Engineering Department of the DuPont Company. His work took him from Wilmington, DE to Newark, DE, to Augusta GA (Savannah River Site), to the Netherlands, to Brazil, to Charlotte, NC where he retired.
Bill was proceeded in death by his wife, Ruth Huston McLaughlin; his sister Violette Helen Thomas and his brother Donald Roy McLaughlin.
He is survived by his son William Houston McLaughlin, his wife Barbara Ruth McLaughlin, a grandchild Melissa Anne Hyden and a great-grandchild.
No memorial service is scheduled.
