William Charles Painter

William Charles Painter (Bill), age 87, of Charlotte NC passed away on Wednesday May 20, 2026. Bill spent most of his life in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until he and his wife, Carol Painter, moved to be with their family in Charlotte.

In his younger years, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and roller skating. He could also be found tinkering on a car in the garage with his brother or helping a neighbor. Bill worked for Deluxe Check Printers but after retirement he drove school buses and cars. The school district always gave him the buses with the toughest kids because he had a way of getting the kids to behave. He said it was simple; I treat them with respect. Bill was most dedicated to his family. He was married to his wife, Carol Painter, for over 59 years and missed her dearly after she passed. Together they raised two children and enjoyed spoiling their two grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his daughter Sandra (Steven Kurt) Painter-Kurt, grandsons Richie (Olivia) and Robert Kurt and daughter-in-law, Brandy Loewen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol, his son Robert Painter, his parents Edward and Dorothy Painter, brother Edward Painter, and sister Janet Burnett.
