

Adele was born on January 15, 1930, in the Bronx, New York, to Ernest Banning and Adalaide Shields Banning. She was married to James Murray for 53 years and lived on Long Island before moving to Lake Monticello. She enjoyed singing and sang in several church choirs over the years. She loved flowers, tending her garden, reading her Bible and spending time with her dog Sophie. She was a faithful Christian and is now at home with the Lord she loved.
In addition to her parents, Adele was preceded in death by her husband, James Murray; a brother, Ernest Banning; and a grandson, Jason Murray.
Adele is survived by a son, James Murray and his wife Sue; three daughters, Kathy Brown and her husband Bill, Donna Barrow and her husband Kenny and Nancy Murray; her grandchildren, Brian Murray and his wife Megan, Billy Brown and his wife Kate, Kelly Curry and her husband Rocky, Kimberly Garrido and her husband Joel, Heather Ward and her husband Chris, Samantha Easter and her husband Adam; and nine great-grandchildren, Stephen Brown, Deric Curry, Sophia and Shelby Murray, Jamie Garrido, Jace and Emery Easter, and James and Jonathan Ward. She is also survived by a sister, Ada May Preston, and two brothers, George and Richard Banning.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 11am, at Piedmont Christian Church in Keswick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville.
