Arvenie Marie Shifflett

Arvenie Marie Shifflett, 87, of Charlottesville, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 with her family by her side to be with the Lord. Born August 26, 1928 in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Nettie Shifflett Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Shifflett, Sr.; a daughter, Phyllis P. Toney; a sister, Eleanor Lawson; a brother, George C. Roberts; special sister-in-law, Dora Roberts; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Sue Shifflett; and son-in-law, Dana William Naylor, Sr. She is survived by one brother, Welman “Buddy” Roberts; nine children, Joyce Garrison, Emily Wright, Clarence M. Shifflett, Jr., Martha E. Shifflett, Brenda Marsh, Gregory R. Shifflett, Sr., John M. Shifflett, Harvey F. Shifflett, and Shannon R. Taylor; 20 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was a member of Bingham’s United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and listen to bluegrass music. She loved children and having big family gatherings during the holidays. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Bingham’s United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Teague Funeral Home. A special thanks to Diana Shifflett, many close relatives, and all of the medical staff who have provided her care.
