Barbara Mae Chisolm

Barbara M. Brown-Chisholm, 82, of Troy, VA died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at her home. Born on December 8, 1932 — she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Brown and Katie Kesterson Brown. Preceding her in death was her husband Boyd Walton Chisholm, her brothers James F. Brown Jr., William “Doug” Brown, and her sister Bessie Brown Shull. She is survived by her two sons: Edward and James Fitzgerald; her daughter Mary Alice Fitzgerald; grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews. She is also survived by a devoted nephew, James E. Harlow of Keswick, VA. Also, a dear friend who brought her laughter, joy and care: Jimmy R. Budd of Keswick, VA. The family wishes to thank a very special live-in caregiver, Thelma Ashton, who attended to her every need with care, compassion, and love throughout the last years of her life — a person who became a loving family member as she delivered her care until the end. Barbara’s family would also like to express a special thank you to Dr. Robert Gibson and Dr. Matthew Goodman for the excellent medical care. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2015, at Oakwood Cemetery in Charlottesville, officiated by Pastor Lindsay Ellis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA of your choice in honor of Barbara’s beloved pets Boots, Laine, and Jenny. She was an avid lover of all creatures big & small.
