Bennie Clyde Templeton, Jr., 68, of Ruckersville passed away suddenly at his home on October 2, 2022. Bennie was born on November 13, 1953 in Charlottesville to the late Bennie Clyde Templeton, Sr. and Anita Alease Templeton Hudson.
Bennie left behind a large family to cherish his memory to include his loving wife 40 years, Linda Templeton; three daughters, Meaghan Upman (Stephen), Cassie Templeton, and Courtney Templeton; four brothers, Curtis “Martin” Templeton, Wallace K. Templeton (Robin), Phillip L. Templeton (Phyllis), and Patrick “Clay” Templeton (Lori); stepfather Frank Hudson; three grandchildren, Noah Tyson, Eli Upman, and Bentlee Britton; five nieces and nephews, Jessica Barbour (Shaun), Stephen Templeton (Hannah), Meredith Templeton (Shaun), Justin Templeton (Sarah), and Blair Templeton; and many other family and close friends.
Bennie was a graduate of Lane High School in 1972. While there, he was an avid athlete and was the honoree of Most Outstanding Athlete in 1971-72 for football, wrestling, and baseball. In his earlier years, you often found him on the softball field or bowling in his league. He loved to hunt, fish, working side by side with Douglas Caton for many years, enjoying the beach with his family, and making his cornhole boards. One of his favorite past times was going salmon fishing with his wife and close friends in New York. He loved his family deeply. He was well liked by the community and anyone who heard his name always had a good story to tell.
The Templeton Family would like to give a special thank you to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Greene County Fire and Rescue for all their efforts and compassion during such a difficult time.
Family will receive visitors from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Teague Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church.
