

Betty Pugh Martin age 90, of Charlottesville, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 4, 2025. A devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and quiet strength.
Born on May 25, 1935 in Greenwood, Virginia, Betty was the daughter of Robert Vance Pugh and Ruby Jones Pugh . She lived a life guided by grace, always placing others before herself and trusting in God’s plan through every season of life.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A long-time member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in various ways, including church and choir pianist. Her Bible was well-worn, her prayers constant, and her heart always open.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her warm smile, and her unwavering devotion to God and family.
Betty married the love of her life, Willie Martin and together they shared over 40 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie, her parents Robert Vance Pugh and Ruby Jones Pugh and her brothers Robert Vance Pugh Jr. (Bobby), Mickey Pugh, William H. Pugh (Billy), and Carlton L. Pugh (Carl). She is survived by her children, Ron and Glen ; grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Riley and Emily; great-grandchildren, Emma and Connor and her sisters Peggy Boyd and Ruby Canody.
The family would like to thank the unbelievable caregivers at The Lodge at Old Trail and Hospice of the Piedmont for their kindness and love during this time. The care and tenderness she received could not have been better.
Family visitation and a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 9th at 10:30am in Teague Funeral Home on Ivy Road with the service by Pastor Robert Price beginning at 12pm. Burial will follow at Monticello Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church in Betty’s honor.
