Elisabeth (Betty) Kollar lived a full and eventful life, passing away at the age of 101 on May 12th after a sudden illness. She was the intensely proud mother of five children (Frank, Kevin, Ted, Charles and Laura) who will all miss her beautiful smile and constantly positive outlook on life. Betty was married to her sweetheart of 70 years, Frank Kollar, a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy in New York and a veteran of World War II. As a student of classical art, Betty had a long career of teaching young students the fundamentals of artistic expression. As an older adult, Betty taught Writing for Pleasure at the Senior Center in Charlottesville and at Branchlands Independent Living.
Betty will be greatly missed by all of her friends, family, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She brought a smile to everyone she met and leaves behind many who loved and admired her. Special thanks go to the wonderful folks at English Meadows of Crozet, Cedars Healthcare Center, Hospice of the Piedmont and PACE innovAge of Charlottesville.
