Mr. Henry Jerry Fielding

Henry Jerry Fielding, 69, of 1615 Trailridge Rd. died at his home on Friday 20, 2026. He was born in Charlottesville, June 28,1956 to the late Henry Vincent Fielding Jr. and Janice H. Highlander and godson of the late Helen and R. T. Belew.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Fielding, a daughter Amy Gatke (Brian), two granddaughters Stella and Julia Gatke, son Michael Fielding, stepdaughter Stephanie White (David) and grandson, Caleb Leake, a sister Sheila Fletcher (Harry), brothers Daniel Fielding (Mary), Scott Fielding (Wanda), Glenn Fielding (Melissa), Vincent Fielding (Emily), and stepmother Edith Coleman. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Jerry was a 1974 Lane High School graduate and was active in the Distributive Education Clubs of America when he was president his senior year. He won several sales competition awards both locally and statewide. After graduation he worked for the Virginia State Water Control Board, Charlottesville office for several years before becoming an insurance agent and later an independent broker with The Life Insurance Company of Virginia until 1991. Jerry then started in the promotional advertising business as an independent representative for The Newton Mfg. Co. and eventually formed Fielding Ad Specilities which he maintained until his death.

He loved to cook and did not mind sharing with others and practiced it was better to give than receive. He loved his animals and from an early age adopted many cats. And most important were his chihuahuas, Skip and Willy, which he adored during their lifetime.

Jerry appreciated the many friendships, especially Melvin and Peggy Blincoe, deceased, that he made during his lifetime and also his neighbors in the last few years for all of their help.

A visitation will be held at Teague Funeral Service, located at 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903, on February 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at Monticello Memory Garden, located at 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlotte, VA 22902, on February 27, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm.
