

Irene Elizabeth Morris Wheeler, 88, of Scottsville, returned her borrowed body to its rightful owner on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Born on September 10, 1926, Irene was the last living child of the late Samuel Lewis and Laura Bessie Morris of Greene County. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Daniel Wheeler, Sr. Irene is survived by her children Caroline Wells and her husband Lloyd of Charlottesville, Donald L. Wheeler and his wife Sharon of Scottsville, and John D. Wheeler, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Greene County; three grandsons, Scott, Duane, and Derrick; two great grandchildren; and Jamie Wells whom she thought of as a grandchild. Irene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she faithfully devoted her life to serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her greatest accomplishment was passing the word of the Bible to her children. Irene’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice House for their love and care of their mother. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Teague Chapel. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Teague Funeral Home. The family suggests that donations be made in Irene’s name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or to Hospice House, 501 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
