J. Guadalupe Rodriguez Rios

Guadalupe was born on March 8, 1956, in Cañada de Corralejo, Pénjamo, Guanajuato, México, to J. Isabel Rodriguez and Eusebia Ríos.

Guadalupe, also known by many as “Lupe”, started off working at a young age near Hermosillo, Mexico, unloading cargo ships. He then came to the United States of America along with his late father, Isabel, where both were in search of better means to help their family back home in Mexico. Lupe was the eldest of seven (7) children, and as it was/is customary for the eldest of siblings to care for the younger, he took on the role of helping them out financially. Lupe first arrived to work in Stockton, California, tending to Chinese cabbage and grounds work, the initiation of his lifelong work in agriculture. He then made his way north to the state of Washington for seasonal work in apples. Lupe traveled to Florida to work with citrus fruits, then to the state of New York, until the great state of Virginia called him home. In Virginia he lived and worked in Syria, within Madison County, at a family owned and operated orchard. From there Lupe found his permanent home and settled down in Batesville with his young family, where he joined the Crown Orchard Company, and worked there for over 30 years. Lupe shared many years with his two children, Feliciana, who he affectionately nicknamed "Chana," and his youngest son, Lupe, who all called "Lupillo" or "Little Lupe." Lupe was fortunate to have also lived next door to his life-long friends, best friends, Leonard and Chris Hetz, who shared with him many memories over the years. He was fortunate in his adult life to find his final grand love, Irma Lara Antunez, who he married in the summer of 1999. They shared their adult life with each other, just over two decades, as caring companions. All who knew Lupe would say that he was; hard-working, skilled, and handy with many trades and abilities, respected, quiet, kind, sports enthusiast (would spends weekends watching all sports, favored soccer and American football, he was partial to the, formally known, Washington Redskins). There are many attributes and pleasant memories all could share about Lupe, but we all are fortunate to have been a part of his family or have called him friend. His children will live their lives remembering him and raising their children and guiding them to be the best part of the Rodriguez legacy, that their grandfather work all his life to achieve. He, J. Guadalupe Rodriguez Rios, “Lupe”, will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

Guadalupe is survived by his wife, Irma Lara Rodriguez; daughter, Feliciana Rodriguez; son-in-law, Humberto Retana Martínez; grandson, Lucio Yuvin Castillo Rodriguez; granddaughter, Lily Victoria Retana Rodriguez; granddaughter, Laila Isabel Retana Rodriguez. His son, Guadalupe Rodriguez Jr., daughter-in-law, Yoseline Linares Vargas; grandson, Ángel Guadalupe Rodriguez; grandson, Marc Aiden Rodriguez; granddaughter, Camila Rodriguez Linares. His late brother’s family, José Rodriguez Ríos (deceased); ex sister-in-law, Crescencia Montes; niece, Margarita Rodriguez; niece, María Guadalupe Rodriguez; niece, Isabel Rodriguez; niece, Yajaira Rodriguez; nephew, José Rodriguez; nephew, Jesús Rodriguez; niece, Verónica Rodriguez; niece, San Juana Rodriguez. His youngest brother, José Jesús Rodriguez Ríos; sister-in-law, Rocío Pérez Ortiz; nephew, Jesús Francisco Rodriguez Pérez; niece, Cintia Itcel Rodriguez Pérez. His sister Francisca Rodriguez Ríos (also known as Martina); niece, María Rosalinda Núñez Rodriguez; nephew, Juan Carlos Núñez Rodriguez; nephew, Juan Cruz Núñez Rodriguez; nephew, José Manuel Núñez Rodriguez; niece, Mari Candelaria Núñez Rodriguez. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 7-9pm, at Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville, with group rosary prayers from 7-8 pm (Spanish).

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11am, also at the funeral home.

Guadalupe nació el 8 de marzo de 1956 en Cañada de Corralejo, Pénjamo, Guanajuato, México, hijo de J. Isabel Rodríguez y Eusevia Ríos.

Guadalupe, también conocida por muchos como "Lupe", comenzó a trabajar a una edad temprana cerca de Hermosillo, México, descargando buques de carga. Luego llegó a los Estados Unidos de América junto con su difunto padre, Isabel, donde ambos estaban en busca de mejores medios para ayudar a su familia en México. Lupe era el mayor de siete (7) hijos, y como era / es costumbre que el mayor de los hermanos cuide a los más pequeños, asumió el papel de ayudarlos financieramente. Lupe llegó por primera vez a trabajar en Stockton, California, atendiendo el repollo chino y el trabajo en la tierra de la cosecha, el inicio de su trabajo de toda la vida en la agricultura. Luego se dirigió hacia el norte, al estado de Washington para el trabajo estacional en manzanas. Lupe viajó a Florida para trabajar con frutas cítricos, luego al estado de Nueva York, hasta que el gran estado de Virginia lo llamó su hogar. En Virginia vivió y trabajó en Syria, dentro del condado de Madison, en un huerto de propiedad y operación familiar. Desde allí, Lupe encontró su hogar permanente y se estableció en Batesville con su joven familia, y se unió a la Crown Orchard Company, y trabajó allí durante más de 30 años. Lupe compartió varios años a lado de sus dos hijos, Feliciana, quien él le apodo cariñosamente “Chana”, y su hijo menor, Lupe, que todos lo nombraban “Lupillo” o “Little Lupe”. Lupe tuvo la suerte de haber vivido también al lado de sus amigos de toda la vida, sus mejores amigos, Leonard y Chris Hetz, quienes compartieron con él muchos recuerdos a lo largo de los años. Tuvo la suerte en su vida adulta de encontrar a su último gran amor, Irma Lara Antúnez, con quien se casó en el verano de 1999. Compartieron su vida adulta juntos, poco más de dos décadas, como compañeros cariñosos. Todos los que conocían a Lupe pueden decir que él era; trabajador, hábil y práctico con muchos oficios y habilidades, respetado, tranquilo, amable, entusiasta de los deportes (pasaba los fines de semana viendo todos los deportes, favorecía el fútbol y el fútbol americano, era parcial a los, formalmente conocidos, Washington Redskins). Un servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el sábado 6 de noviembre de 2021, a las 11 a.m., también en la funeraria.
