IN THE CARE OF
Teague Funeral Service
James "Jim" Ware Neblett, 88, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, with his loving wife of 64 years and family by his side.
Born March 25, 1931 in Greenwood, Mississippi to James Barbee and Gladys Ratliff Neblett, he spent his boyhood years at the family cotton farm in Morgan City playing football, fishing at Mossy Lake, and duck hunting with his dad and brother. He was an Eagle Scout and a scout leader. After receiving a chemical engineering degree from Ole Miss, Jim served as Officer of Damage Control in the United States Navy where he traveled to countries throughout the world. Jim furthered his education with a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. His career with General Electric earned him various awards for work patents. Jim avidly studied the Bible and was considered a Bible scholar. He taught adult Sunday school and served as lay minister for the Methodist Church. He stayed busy with his love of photography, painting, writing poetry, gardening, and making jewelry for his wife from his rock & gem collection. Because of his love of animals, he befriended a squirrel he called Herman who often sat on his shoulder. Jim had a brilliant mind and was affectionately teased for being a walking encyclopedia by family and colleagues. He was also known and loved for his quick wit at family gatherings.
Preceded in death by his son, William Allan Neblett, he is survived by his wife, Bettie Neblett; daughters, Barbara Neblett, Ruth Webster (Warren), and Sue Langley (Mark); a brother, Robert Neblett; grandchildren, Brian Webster, Cole Webster, Brant Webster, Carolyn Weber, Greg Rasmussen, Jamie Herrington, Jeff Langley, Chad Langley; and nine great-grandchildren. Dearly loved by his family, we thank God for all the wonderful years we shared with him.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville. Please send flowers to the Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, Virginia or donations can be made to the ASPCA as an alternative.
