Jianying Zou

Jianying was the youngest child born to Jiuzheng Zou and Huiping Jiang on February 6, 1953 in Liaoning, China.

Jianying graduated from Beijing University with a Bachelor's degree and from Havana University with a Master's degree in Spanish. After university she worked at Xinhua News Agency in China from 1978 to 1989.

Upon arriving in the United States, Jianying dedicated her life to supporting her husband and children. She worked long, hard hours to provide a better life for her son and daughter. Jianying was the backbone of the family businesses. She loved bringing joy to the people she met over the many years.

Jianying enjoyed reading, traveling, and talking with her friends. She loved to listen to Chinese music and watch Chinese television shows. She also collected coins, stamps, and different types of Chinese art.

Jianying was preceded in death by her parents.

Jianying is survived by her husband Zhiqing Li; son Alexander Li; daughter Monica Li; grandson Griffin Gorman; brother Liaoying Zou; brother Weiying Zou; and sister Hongying Zou.

She is dearly missed by family and friends. We are grateful for the time we enjoyed with her on this earth.

A memorial service for Jianying will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903.
