Spent some time with Mary today, John.  We talked about you and how much you are loved and missed.

My Dear Sweet Brother,
     Tomorrow we lay your body to rest. We know that you are already singing with the Heavenly Choir. You've always loved to sing in church. A beautiful voice you had. Words cannot express how much we all miss you. I will always have my memories of you telling your phone company stories and telling your jokes. We had you for almost 72 yrs and all the memories I've packed away will never fade.

Always came to work with a good attitude. Always ready with a good joke. A good technician who took pride in doing a job right. A friend who will be missed.

John was truly loved and appreciated and we are so sorry that he has left us.  He became an important part of our family when he shared his love, life and companionship with our sister Mary over the last twenty years. He was a man who worked hard, cared for family and friends, served the church in quiet ways. Now he rests in peace with the Lord Jesus.  We extend our condolences to all the family and friends who will miss him as we do. 

To My Daddy-

I love you so much and I will miss you everyday.  Patsy Cline said it best in her song “Daddy’s Hands”- Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin'. Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong…There was always love in daddy's hands. You were an amazing father and  grandfather, for that I will always be thankful. I love you.

I was sadden to hear the news of John's passing, he was a shining star always, he could make you laugh when you really wanted to cry,  John you were a joy and a blessing to be around always.  May God hold your family close with his love , prayers for your family in their time of  loss.

Uncle John where do I start? Everything is just pouring out of my heart all at once. You were like the father I never had and you treated me like I was your daughter too. You always told me when I was messing up and when you were proud of me. I have so many memories of being at your house or going on trips with our family. Those were some of the best times in my life. All of the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays. I will never forget the memories we shared with you, Nicki, David, and Donna. You will always be in my heart as long as I live. I will always have my memories to look back on and smile. I love you with all of my heart and I will see you one day with open arms. Fly high with the Angels Uncle John. You will be missed. 😢

Today at church we had a service of remembrance for those members who had died in the past year.  John was one of the saints named.  The pastor talked about the incorrect notion that saints have to do extraordinary feats to be considered saints, and then he named some saints in his own life.  They were ordinary people, but because of their service, witness, and the helping hand they offered, he considered them saints.  John was such a person.  He was very active in his church and attended regularly until his health no longer allowed him to.  During his time at SUMC, he helped teach Sunday school and assisted at VBS.  He regularly delivered meals to shut ins, and he often picked up and packaged food for those in need.  He played the part of Jesus in a last supper drama, a non speaking part because speaking had become difficult for him, but he wanted to be a part of it to bring glory to God.  He could be counted on to help in any way he could.  He made a difference.  John was a saint.  After the service many people shared with me how much they loved him and how sorry they were to learn of his passing.  My deepest condolences to his family and all those who loved him.  He will be missed.

John was a big loving part of our family.  We loved him.  We miss John.  Everyone's lives were touched by his goodness. Two years ago John was baptized in Middle River.  John was suffering with his disease but he knew he wanted to give his life to the Lord.  He wasn't talking much at the time but he said "I want to do that" meaning be baptized!  Best memory ever. Love you John.  Sue Lam and family.

Saddened to hear of John's passing.  John was a fun loving and caring person.  Many fond memories of John and Henry Ship coaching our softball team and working with him. 

 My Sympathy to the family,

 I am saddened to hear of John's passing.  I was his supervisor when he worked in the Key/PBX group.  We shared a lot of laughs.  I know he will be missed.  Sincere sympathy to his family.
