Joyce Roberts Wood

Joyce Roberts Wood, 77, of Earlysville, passed away on November 3, 2021. Joyce was born on June 4, 1944, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Ellis and Vada Roberts. Joyce was a devoted member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years touching the lives of many she encountered. She never missed a Sunday for 37 years, something she was very proud of. She retired from Wachovia Bank working for many years in the trust department and bookkeeping. She was a devoted mother and wife, always taking care of others and putting her family first. She loved the outdoors, gardening and being a part of the farm life. She also loved her swimming pool and getting her bicycle pedals in. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Ellis Roberts; mother, Vada Roberts; brother, Randy Roberts; and daughter, Christina Wood. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Carlton Wood, her son Dwayne Wood and his wife, Kim. Her daughter, Molly White and husband, Chat. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lauren Porcaro, Chelsea Whisnant and her husband, Matt, Ryan Porcaro and his wife, Libbie, and Anthony Wood and his wife, Lauren; and her great-grandchild, Wade Wood. Joyce is also survived by her brothers, Clarence Roberts and his wife, Jean, and Kermit Roberts and his wife, Ellen, and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville, Virginia, will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 2 p.m., for friends and family of Joyce Wood and anyone else who was impacted by the life of Joyce.
