Katharine "Kate" Carmel Houff

Katharine Carmel Houff, lovingly known as Kate, passed away on March 19, 2024. She was born on November 4, 1993 at the old Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. Kate was a 2012 graduate from Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, VA. During her Senior year of high school, Kate attended CATEC (Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center) where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant license. She also attended Job Corps on Treasure Island in San Francisco, California, to further her education, There she received her Medical Assistant license. Kate dedicated her career to caring for others. Her greatest achievement was being mother to her precious daughter Charley Bethany King. Kate had many friends who loved and cherished her wonderful personality, cheerful and fun-loving nature, and the beautiful memories created by those friendships. Kate had a very large, loving, and tight-knit family in California and will be greatly missed by all of her family and dearest friends. She is survived by her daughter Charley; mother Yolanda Maestas; brother Jacob Houff (Jessica Howell); twin sister Christine Houff; niece Raine Maria Houff; nephew Jayden Fleckenstein, her paternal grandfather, Robert David Rosson; her partner Justin King, her daughter’s paternal grandparents Shirley and Leonard White and Michael and Diane King and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kate was preceded in death by her father, William H. Houff; maternal grandparents, Rev. Mr. Alfredo C. and Carmen Maestas; paternal grandmother Yvonne N. Rosson; uncles Alfred Jr, Joseph, and Gilbert Maestas; her cousin John Paul Maestas. Services will be private.
