

Lena Laverne Call of Batesville, Virginia passed away on June 10, 2014 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Montague and Sophie Key Truslow. She was born October 9, 1939 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Lena was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Dempsey, Mike, Randy, Elwood, and Mark; and 4 sisters: Lillian, Geraldine, Barbara, and Hawsie. Lena was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Faith & Grace Christian Fellowship, and counted her faith in Christ as one of her greatest blessings. Lena was a caring, funny, and gentle mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was treasured by all who knew her. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy in life, and nothing made her happier than seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren together. Her smile and warm hugs made an impact wherever she went, and she was Nanny Lena to not only her biological family, but to all of those she adopted through love. Lena is survived by her husband, Rick Call, of Waynesboro; one sister, Nona Carver; seven children: Debbie Napier and husband, Barry; Frankie Graves and fiancée, Debbie; Warnie Graves; Eddie Graves; Chris Call and wife Julie; Rob Call and wife Sue; and Zaine Call; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her children would like to particularly thank a special niece and nephew, Netsy and Dave Mawyer and their family, for the love and care shown to Lena. The family would also like to thank the nurses and doctors in the CCU at UVA Hospital for their dedicated care. The family will receive visitors at Teague Funeral Home on Sunday, June 15, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Faith & Grace Christian Fellowship, 3935 Rock Branch Road, North Garden, Virginia on Monday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Wild Rose Cemetery, Batesville, Virginia.
