Margaret Rose Felstead Altman passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. The youngest of eight children, She was born September 8, 1930 in London, England,. She was a proud Londoner and, except for being evacuated during The Blitz, spent her youth working and reveling in the city she loved and knew so well that even at age 94 she could give directions on how to get from place to place and even included the right bus number to get you there!
She adored dancing, and loved going to the dance halls with her sisters and ‘mates’. It was at the Lyceum just off the Strand that she met her beloved husband Pete, who was at that time a sailor in the US Navy. Although he wasn’t a terrific dancer (her words) he won her heart and they moved to the U.S. shortly after getting married. Margaret (“Skip” as he fondly called her) and Pete shared many happy times over their 72 years of marriage including a love of travel which took them all over the world.
Margaret was preceded in death by her cherished husband Pete, their oldest son, William, and their youngest son, Jason. She is survived by a son, Stephen, a daughter Vanessa, a son-in-law Mike, a daughter-in-law Jeanette, her grandchildren Jacob, Taylor and Garrett, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends whom she adored and doted on.
A committal service will be on Tuesday July 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 East Chandler St, Culpeper, VA 22701 where she will be reunited with her beloved Pete.
