Mary Frances McIntosh Lominack

Mary Frances McIntosh Lominack, a retired educator, died on February 16, 2021 in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born on November 20, 1937 in Charlottesville, Virginia; the daughter of Ebbie Francis McIntosh and Nancy Roudabush McIntosh of Orange, Virginia. She married Robert Nance Lominack, Jr. on December 27, 1958. Mrs. Lominack was a graduate of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond with degrees in sociology and elementary education. Her teaching career spanned some 35 years and included serving as Director of Amherst Academy, Amherst, Virginia and as an Instructional Leader for Norfolk, Virginia Public Schools. The remaining years of her career were spent teaching at the elementary school level in Abingdon, Virginia. Among other things, she was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church, Abingdon, Virginia; Alpha Delta Kappa, Honorary Society; W.A.R. Goodwin Society, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, Virginia. Charter member, The Porterfield Society, Barter Theatre, Abingdon, Virginia; Virginia Highlands Festival Board of Directors and Antiques Committee Chair, Abingdon, Virginia; and the 1908 Society, University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, Virginia. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Dr. Robert Nance Lominack, Jr., a retired Presbyterian Minister and her brother, William Douglas McIntosh. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carter Lominack of Charlottesville, Virginia; one sister, Nancy Lovell Lim (Pete) and family of Louisville, Kentucky and one sister-in-law Dalyce McIntosh and family of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She also is survived by a special family friend, Kristine Hall of Charlottesville, Virginia. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date.
