Mike Smith

Mike Smith, of Zion Crossroads Virginia, passed peacefully away at home on Thursday July 10, 2025 at the age of 70 years old. He was born on March 22, 1955 in Gadsden, Alabama where he grew up.

Mike graduated from Jacksonville State University with a BS Degree in Marketing and Economics. Upon graduation, Mike accepted a job at Hormel Foods where he worked as a Sales Representative for 38 years until his retirement. Mike was friendly, humble, hardworking, and more than willing to help out. He was liked and respected by all with whom he worked.

Mike enjoyed working in his yard, detailing his vehicles, studying history, and feeding the birds and other wildlife in his backyard. He was an extremely kind and generous person and was admired by all who knew him. The joy of his life was his grandson Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Smith. Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail Smith, his daughter Lesley Crouch, his son-in-law Steven Crouch, and grandson Jacob Crouch. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Zion United Methodist Church in Troy, Virginia at 1pm on Saturday July 19, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Louisa County Resource Council.
