Raoul Clinton Foster was born on September 26th, 1963 in Siloam Springs, AR to Reta and LeRoy Foster. On October 7th, 1989 he married Betsy Welch. He received his master’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1996 and worked for 30 years in internet technology helping university personnel and students at the University of Arkansas, Old Dominion University, and the University of Virginia. Clint and Betsy raised their children in the town they fell in love with, Charlottesville, VA.
Clint was talented in many different areas. Aside from writing computer programs designed to make people’s lives easier and being able to raise computers from the dead, he was a fantastic cook, a great photographer, a music lover, and a true friend of nature. He could figure out how to do or fix just about anything he put his mind to. He could lay a floor, repair a car, or make a suitcase handle out of pvc pipe and rope.
He had a great interest in and amazing knowledge of history. He not only knew what had happened, but the smaller details that formed the bigger picture of why things happened the way they did. He did his best to use his knowledge of history and technology to encourage a better society.
He took great joy in helping his friends, neighbors, and co-workers in any way he was able. Whether friend or stranger, average or underdog, he did his best to make sure everyone knew they had value, no matter what their situation.
He was a dedicated father, declining better pay working at a company that would require him to spend less time with his family, in favor of being able to go to every concert, play, competition, spelling bee, and other event that his kids ever had so they would know how important they were to him.
He was a truly wonderful husband and showed his love in many, many ways. He was always busy helping. He would do anything that was needed, and he did things consistently and constantly because he believed that love was not just an emotion, it was an action.
He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy, and is survived by his wife Betsy, his children Rowen and Cassidy and daughter-in-law Lizzie Kindler, his mother Reta, and his sister Diane Brown and brother-in-law Terry Brown and their family.
He will be truly missed.
