Obituary of Virginia "Ginger" Ann (Burruss) Nofziger
Virginia (Ginger) Ann Burruss Nofziger, 67, of Earlysville passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at home. Born May 10, 1955, in Charlottesville, she was the older daughter of William Randolph Burruss and Bobbie Lee Birckhead Burruss. She was preceded in death by her parents in 2022. Ginger is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Robin D. Nofziger; her daughter, Amy Becker and her husband Glenn of Palmyra; two sons, Ian Nofziger of Williamsburg, and Derek-Eli Nofziger and his wife Catie of Charlottesville. She is survived by grandchildren, Hannah Nofziger, Seth Lail, Aidan Lail, Matt Becker, and Brooke Becker; and great-grandchild, Virginia Lee Island. She is also survived by her brother, Craig Burruss and his wife Margaret; and sister, Melanie White and her husband Paul. Ginger had a warm smile, was an avid knitter, gourmet cook, had a love of butterflies and gardening, and the singing voice of an angel. Nothing meant more to Ginger than her loved ones and she happily expressed it to all she encountered. She was a big hugger, from hello to goodbye and any reason in between. She cared deeply for family, not out of obligation, but because her heart was so pure and full of love. Ginger was an exceptionally loving and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. She would go above and beyond to ensure everyone was comfortable and felt welcomed. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Road Dyke, Virginia 22935. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Nortonsville Church of God. Interment will be private at Markwood Cemetery. The family welcomes all to join them for a meal at the church to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ginger’s name to the Albemarle County Rescue Squad.
