Winnie was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1930 and was married to William F. Letteri, and eventually moved to upstate New York, where they raised 13 children. Her strength, kindness, and faith were constants in her life and brought joy to all that knew her.
In their later years, Winnie and Bill moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, and were surrounded by their children and many grandchildren. Thanksgivings, Christmas’, and summer holidays were just a few of the many family gatherings that brought joy to Winnie. She loved to read on the beaches of North Carolina and watch her grandchildren enjoy the ocean. Winnie was an avid reader, especially historical fiction, and an accomplished crocheter. Additionally, she was a talented gardener. If you took her to a garden store, you could be sure she would walk out with many plants and shrubs.
Winnie showed a love of life and family that will leave us all missing her terribly. Thoughts of her will always bring a sense of belonging and happiness for having her in our lives. She is survived by 11 children, 27 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
