Barbara Frances McGrath

Barbara Frances McGrath, age 95, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born to the late Stephen Arthur “Art” Gould and Frances Evelyn Nickerson Gould on May 23, 1927 in Chatham, MA.

Barbara graduated from Chatham High School in 1945 then attended Barbizon School of Modeling in NYC. She was employed in Boston with New Haven Railroad where she met her future husband in 1947, John W. McGrath. When working in retail, Barbara was always well dressed and took pride in her appearance. She ended her career with Comfort Keepers at age 86. Barbara loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was an avid golfer, she loved her 1969 Mercedes-Benz roadster. She was very proud of buying and designing her home in Reflection Lakes.

Barbara is survived by her 5 loving children. Stephanie McGrath (Bell), Paula McGrath (Newell), John McGrath Jr., Tracy McGrath (Lenz), Nadine “Dina” McGrath (Terrio). Neal J Terrio who predeceased her by 7 hours, on April 28th, 2023. She enjoyed spending time with her 11 grandchildren. Paige and Ariel Newell, Thaddeus and Garrett McGrath, Daniel, Michael and Andrew Lenz, Devin, Kelsey, Sydney, and Colin Terrio.

Calling hours will be held on Monday May 8th from 12-2PM at Nickerson Funeral Home in Chatham, MA. Followed by a graveside service at People’s Cemetery at 2:30pm.
