She loved adventure; as a young college student she applied for a summer job at Quanset Camp (she had not seen the camp or Cape Cod). In 1989 she and her husband retired to North Chatham, MA where she was a member of the Cape Cod Covenant Church and the Chatham Garden Club. Her main interests after raising her four children were gardening, painting, and travel. She spent hours perfecting her garden on Seapine Road. She also further developed her artistic talent, primarily through water color paintings. Her paintings are enjoyed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years. She is survived by two daughters: Marcia Beckett King of Ridgeland, MS and Barbara Bangs Jones of East Longmeadow, MA; and two sons: David Dikeman King of Easthampton, MA and Gary Warren King of Frederick, MD, she also has seven grandchildren and nine great children.
