James Gerald Beaton passed away peacefully on Cape Cod in Massachusetts on the 23rd of July. Jim was born on March 1, 1940 in Boston. From 1957 to 1963 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, after which he attended and graduated from Boston State College and eventually settled in Canton and South Chatham, Massachusetts. He spent the majority of his professional life with New England Life in Boston.
Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sylvia, for 54 years, by whom he was predeceased, and an exemplary father. He was a nationally competitive sailor for over a decade and a lifelong boating enthusiast. He is survived by his grateful son Christopher and his partner, Doug, and his brother Raymond (Dorothea) Beaton. His generosity, optimism, and compassion will be remembered by all who knew him.
