Brewster-Jean Brent Pickard entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at EPOCH Senior Healthcare. Jean was born in the Brick Block on Chatham's Main Street and graduated from Chatham High. Jean married at age 19 and celebrated over 60 years of marriage until her husband's death in 2003. Jean had a wonderful heart and soft manner, enjoying her children growing up and then spending time with her grandchildren. She was one of the oldest members of the Chatham United Methodist Church and volunteered for Sunday School teacher when her children were young and coffee hour and greeter in recent years. Jean loved using her hands and was skilled at sewing and knitting, but also tried furniture refinishing, upholstery, jewelry making, and smocking dresses. Jean loved nature, animals, reading, long walks, baking, and the ocean, but most of all, living in Chatham. Jean leaves her son and wife, Terry and Augie Pickard of Chatham; daughter and husband, Wendy Njenga and Juma Abdulrahman of S. Dennis; grandchildren Angela Mallowes and Brent Pickard of Chatham. She also leaves niece Shaula Brent of Atwater, Ca; nephew Cary Brent and wife Pam of Merced, CA; and niece Nancy Phinney of Hyannis. A celebration gathering will be held Thursday, March 10 at 1 pm in the Chatham Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
