He was predeceased by his wife Betty L. Burns. He is survived by his four children: Mary Joyce Burns of Centerville, MA; Christopher Yates Burns and his wife Jennifer of East Dennis, MA; John Keenan Burns, Jr. and his wife Beth of Williamsburg, MA; and Elizabeth Gamard of New Lebanon, NY. He is also survived by his three granddaughters: Megan Burns, Laura Burns, and Sarah Gamard.
