

Jack was born in Lawrence MA, the son of John D. and Mary (Herbertson) Higgins. He graduated from St. John’s Prep and attended MIT. He served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Fred T. Berry.
He worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY and retired after nearly 30 years. He then moved to Chatham, MA where he served part-time as a Shellfish Warden for the Town of Chatham and was the Quartermaster at the Brown James Buck VFW for over 10 years.
He married Mary Berry in August 1959, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law’s, Stephen and Diane Higgins; Peter and Heather Higgins; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth; a son, David, as well as a son, Michael from a previous marriage, and his seven grandchildren, Stephen Jr, Tyler, Katelyn, Austin, Nicole, Abigail and Samuel.
He was predeceased in death by his parents and his two siblings Francis and Dorothy SND.
Calling hours are Tuesday March 22 from 4pm - 7pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10am at Holy Redeemer Church, Highland Ave, Chatham, MA. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
