M. Natalie Young of Chatham passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023 at her final home at South Dennis Care Center. Born Mary Natalie Williams, she was a graduate of Roslindale High in 1947. At various times, she lived in Roslindale, MA, Marlton NJ and West Roxbury, MA before retiring to Chatham in 1994. Natalie was one of the first employees of what is now Tufts Health Plan and did marketing for Tufts on the Cape after her retirement. She also worked for the VNA of Cape Cod. She was an active member of the Holy Redeemer Women’s Prayer group. Always giving of her time, Natalie was a “first responder” in Chatham, a visitor to several homebound people in town, and worked as an ombudsman for two or three long term care facilities in the mid-Cape area.
Natalie is survived by her brother, Fr. Bill Williams of Halifax, and her children: Beth Torcivia of Brewster, MA and Peggy and Dana Golden of Natick, MA as well as her grandchildren: Geoffrey and Colene Russ of San Diego, CA; Benjamin Torcivia of Morris Plains, NJ and Peter and Jennifer Torcivia of High Bridge, NJ. She was “Grandma Nat” to her four great-grandchildren as well: Abbie, Emma, Sam and Max.
Natalie loved to have company and entertain. Her little house overlooking Ridgevale Beach was her pride and joy and she spent countless hours and much energy gardening and making sure everything inside and out was perfect. She was a good cook and a great baker. We will miss her Irish bread and sugar cookies and the beautiful table she always set.
Visiting hours will take place at Nickerson Funeral Home at 87 Crowell Road in Chatham on Friday May 19 from 4 to 7 pm. Her life will be celebrated by her brother, Fr. Bill Williams at Holy Redeemer Church 57 Highland Ave in Chatham Saturday May 20 at 10 am. Private burial will take place on a later date.
