Barbara Young Howard

Barbara was born on August 17th, 1928, to Thomas Virgil (TV) and Mayme Young in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In 1948, Barbara met E. Morris Howard and then married at the Northside Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, TN. Barbara and Morris went on to have 4 children, Richard, Thomas, Melinda, and baby girl Howard. Barbara was a true southern Christian lady, full of generosity, courteous and a bit on the stubborn side. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and ever the gracious host. Barbara deeply loved her family and those close to her. Barbara and Morris loved traveling around the world. One of her favorite things was serving as the Commander of the Crystal River Power Squadron in her favorite state of Florida.

Barbara was predeceased by a newborn baby girl Howard in 1953, her son Stephen Thomas Howard in 1974 and beloved husband Elbert Morris Howard in 2013. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Janice Howard, Canton, GA; daughter Melinda Bell, Wichita, KS; grandchildren Christi Duffey, Stephanie Nash, and Robert Bell and seven wonderful great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Northside Presbyterian Church at 925 Mississippi Avenue, Chattanooga, TN. 37405 in her honor.
